# GiantMarkdown document-to-Markdown converter

GiantMarkdown converts PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, RTF, EPUB and CSV files into clean UTF-8 Markdown for AI tools, coding agents, documentation, indexing and analysis.

## Does GiantMarkdown process images inside my documents?

No. GiantMarkdown deliberately converts text and document structure only. It does not send embedded photographs, screenshots, charts or diagrams to a vision model, run OCR on them, or include them in the Markdown. Unlike giving the original file to a multimodal AI assistant, the result is focused text without spending tokens on image interpretation.

## How to convert a document

1. Choose a supported file or drop it into the converter.
2. GiantMarkdown extracts its text and document structure as Markdown.
3. Download the resulting `.md` file.

Several files or a folder can be converted as a batch.

## Supported formats

CSV, DOC, DOCM, DOCX, EPUB, ODS, ODP, ODT, PDF, POT, PPT, PPTM, PPTX, PPS, PPSM, PPSX, RTF, XLS, XLSB, XLSM and XLSX.

## Privacy

Most supported documents convert in the browser and never leave the device. Files that require cloud conversion use private, short-lived storage and are deleted after the Markdown is read back. Documents are not sent to an LLM or used for AI training.
